Home Endodontics How To Find Us Referral Fees
Dentist Teacher |
Dave Shuster only treats patients referred to him by other dentists and solely
provides endodontic (root canal) treatment. Treatment consists of removing
the inflamed or infected pulp, cleaning and shaping the canal system and then
sealing the prepared space. Most treatment is completed in two visits of
75 minutes but it does depend on the number of canals. Once treatment is
completed you return to your own dentist for permanent reconstruction.
Restoration of the tooth is an important part of treatment because it seals the
cleaned canals from the oral environment and protects the tooth so you can
safely use it again.
Toothache is the main reason patients seek treatment and local anaesthetics can
make treatment pain free. In most cases the procedures should feel no
different to routine dental treatment. The first few days after treatment
there may be some aching and sensitivity to biting pressure so an over the
counter analgesic (eg Paracetemol) or anti-inflammatory medication (e.g.
Ibuprofen) are recommended. Very occasionally a persistent and increasing
ache can occur two or three days after treatment. Treatment is antibiotic
medication which you obtain from your own dentist or GP. |
